Testimonials

At Coastline Homes we value our customers opinion, and we work hard to make sure that our customers are 100% satisfied with their new modular home. Here are what a few of our customers had to say about our work:

We found that working with Richie while we planned for our home was an enjoyable, informative process. He was very patient with our many questions and extremely long, uncertain timeline. Once we ordered our home, we were glad that he and Jeff were able to shift gears and go full speed ahead to get us in the house within two months of setting it on the foundation. The house is everything that we dreamed of and more.

We were very pleased to never be treated with anything but the utmost respect, no question was too stupid. Everyone we spoke to at Coastline was very friendly and professional. The construction crew members are included in that, all were very nice guys. And we were very impressed with Mike’s work ethic and the quality of his work – on the whole it is a great team to have working with us!

My wife and I are natives of Mount Desert Island. We now live in Orlando, FL but own 3 properties on the island and return there seasonally. One of our properties was over 100 years old and maintenance had become a problem. We decided to replace it with something new. After consultations with builders in Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor (custom builders), and Coastline, we selected Coastline. We did this basically for two reasons: 1) the price and quality of Coastline versus Custom. 2) The professionalism, cost and quality of Coastline and its employees, especially Richard Zerrien.

Despite one of the worst winters in recent history on the island, Coastline completed this job in a business-like and professional manner.

Building a house in Maine, financing it through a Maine bank, and dealing with a builder in Maine, when you live in Florida, is not convenient! However, we had no real problems with Coastline!!!

We are Realtors in the Orlando, FL area and have been for 28 years. We have both sold over 100 M here in Real Estate. We wish every deal here had been as comfortable as the one in Maine with Coastline!

Our experience with Coastline Homes began in the fall of 2006. We had bought some property a few years prior and knew that we wanted something different. Initially, we assumed our home would need to be stick built but finding a quality builder would be difficult, especially having heard our fair share of horror stories over the years.

While idea shopping, we had toured and researched several modular home builders in the area and generally found Coastline Homes to be the best based on first hand experiences we had heard from friends and co-workers and what we had observed ourselves in their models, namely quality construction and attention to detail.

With a proposed floor plan (sketch) in hand, we began our initial discussions with them, and throughout the winter months, explored and refined what options would and would not be possible. As she grew and shrank, the folks at Coastline and Keiser, especially Ronnie Gray (from Coastline) and Stephan Page (from Keiser) were very helpful in keeping the process streamlined and the momentum going.

Together, they helped us identify major cost components and potential areas for savings when the total cost got too high. They were also flexible / open to hearing and incorporating our desires for something different. As shown (see photo), something different for us included:

  • A somewhat unique window and door placement design (unlike any model we had seen) for a main living/chalet area (above) and a full walk-out basement section (below), which we intend to finish later;
  • A large deck off the front of the main house as well as a covered porch with columns off the back of an attached two-car garage; and
  • Entrances to the basement from both inside the house (common) and from inside the garage (not so common).

By early April 2007, we were convinced that “going modular” for us, and by mid-May, we found ourselves driving to Oxford, Maine to visit the Keiser factory where we literally got to see OUR house being built as three separate boxes on-line.

Once finished, wrapped and shipped back to our home town in June of 2007, a truly amazing group of individuals (better known as the set crew) had managed to set the house on our prepared foundation and magically get it buttoned up and weather tight in just one day.

From there, we found and greatly appreciated how flexible and accommodating the folks at Coastline were with the remaining work schedule and finish work. In fact, it was some of the “little things” that really made a difference to us. For example, leaving some scaffolding behind, some window, door and floor trim off and even delivering a 12 foot ladder for us to use while painting, especially the peak areas of the chalet, was immensely helpful and appreciated by us.

They also allowed us flexibility in choosing subcontractors, some of which were friends that allowed us to save money, and they were patient during some of the open windows when schedules with others (e.g., the power company) were not as ideal as they could have been.

As with any major building project, there were, of course, some oops and bumps along the way but nothing insurmountable or that was not resolved in a reasonable and professional manner by the folks at Coastline. In fact, there was even one time, when Jeff Hardy, literally drove the extra mile and picked us up at local repair shop when the alternator on our car went bad on our way to a meeting with him.

While challenging and time consuming, just because we are the sort of folks that will research nearly everything, we found the journey along the way with Coastline to very satisfying and in some ways, they were not just the vendor that helped to build our house but in the end, they were more like old family friends that helped give birth and raise our not-so-little baby.

I was stuck in a very difficult position with another home. A relative suggested that I speak with Wayne to see if there was anything he could do that would work for my circumstances. I was very comfortable dealing with him from the start. I faxed floor plans and had several discussions regarding materials, price, delivery and service. He understood my concerns due to the situation I had been in and understood that the quality of materials used in construction was of utmost importance to me. After the plans had been put into place, he turned me over to Richie to make the final choices. I was comfortable making choices on roofing, siding, windows, the water heater, etc., but I was at a loss in matching up counter tops, flooring and woodwork. Richie patiently offered suggestions for coordination. When the time neared for delivery I was turned over to Jeff, who I found to have a great sense of humor, was easy to work with and was very reassuring. I did not have the privilege of meeting the set up crew or the man who finished the inside work, but I can say that their work was top notch and moved along according to plan. My brother, who is a semi-retired building contractor spent a lot of time at my house while it was being set up and while the finish work was being completed. He was incredibly complimentary of the quality of the house and of the work being done. Before the house arrived, I was nervous about what it would look like because I didn’t have a model to look at and I chose from a floor plan. I don’t visualize well and I had many nights of bad dreams. When the house arrived it was much more than I had expected and the detail work set it apart from any house I had looked at. The quality is top-notch. Mike and another gentleman came to my house to do a walk through and make some minor adjustments. They were reassuring, professional and they addressed all my questions. Everyone from beginning to end has been fantastic to deal with. A phone call or email with Heidi makes you feel like you’re dealing with a comfortable friend. I got a quality house for a very fair price and I was treated with respect and honesty by everyone I dealt with. The people at Coastline clearly work as a team and that really makes a difference. Thank you all for changing my situation. I now have a home I love and am proud of!
